High Heels and Should You Wear Them?

By | December 1st, 2015 | Foot care

It is okay to wear high heels on odd occasions, but are you aware just how many bones are in the foot and the damage you can cause wearing the latest fashion statement shoe or Boot? There is more to be said than having to suffer with your high heels and the pain it can give you.

For the sake of fashion people are walking round with dangerously high heels and can often be seen in waiting rooms at A&E having either sprained their ankle or worse. When you walk into a shop looking for those amazing eyecatching shoes, don’t always let your heart rule your head, walk around in the shoes and make sure they fit correctly. It will be not be advisable on walking out of your shoes, this can only cause strain and tension on the foot.

There is nothing worse in my advice than being at a function in high heels that are way too high and squashing the foot and waiting with bated breath until you get home with a sigh of relief that you are able to take your shoes off. Wearing 5 inch heels forces the weight to the front of the foot and will not only cause pain; wearing high heels may cause bunions, corns and various other foot problems in the future. It is very important to get your feet checked by a podiatrist on a regular basis especially if you are a Diabetic.

If you go to the Dentist to look after your teeth you should also get your feet checked to avoid any problems in the future.
