A Fellowship for Mr. Antony Wilkinson

By | February 7th, 2020 | Foot care

We were already proud to have expert foot surgeons Antony Wilkinson and Stephen Finney at the Yorkshire Foot Hospital, but we have just found out that Mr Wilkinson, Consultant Podiatric Surgeon, now has a fellowship!

What is a fellowship you may ask! Well according to Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow…

“Fellowship is a demonstration of commitment to the College and an acknowledgment of an individual’s contribution to medicine, its standards and practice. Fellowship of the Faculty of Medicine is offered to  medicine practitioners who, in the opinion of College, have made substantial contributions to their specialty or who are senior members of the profession and whose published works and attainments are, in the opinion of the Council, of such distinction as to justify election.”

How do you become part of a Fellowship?

To be able to become part of a Fellowship there are certain rules, regulations, and a portfolio of evidence that you have to have before you can apply.

For example, you are required to have a minimum of 5 years of practiced Medicine in the related discipline, a portfolio of evidence demonstrating a commitment to the medicine,

significant contributions as a first author relating to medicine in a peer-reviewed on non peer-reviewed journal, regular peer review of published medicine articles, regular teaching or lecturing at diploma/certificate level or speaking at international national conferences, to name a few!

Showing that this now sets Mr. Wilkinson aside from other surgeons! If you would like to find out more about Mr. Wilkinson or Mr. Finney then click here.

Both surgeons are available for consultation on foot surgery at The Yorkshire Foot hospital with dates throughout the year. Check our Facebook page for the next consultation date.
